With approval of an annexation ordinance on July 16, the City Council welcomed the unincorporated community of Hilltop into Bellevue, effective July 31. Three other unincorporated South Bellevue communities -- Eastgate, Tamara Hills and Horizon View -- were annexed on June 1, following a May 21 ordinance.

For residents of these communities it’s the end of a journey that has included months of public discussion and citizen-initiated petition drives. For both the city and the annexing areas, it marks the beginning of what promises to be a long and satisfying relationship.
